Information Technology In the office of Pr. CDA (SC) Pune

Pr. CDA (SC) is striving to achieve excellence in the field of information technology by adopting the latest technology in this filed. The office of Pr. CDA (SC) Pune and its sub offices are provided with requisite hardware so that the work can be done using the computers. For instance the main office of Pr. CDA (SC) Pune has a full fledged Electronic Data Processing Centre (EDP). The office is equipped with three severs for processing on-line data with about 150 PCs on LAN. Besides these LAN connected PCs, over 50 PCs are in stand-alone mode in various sections of the office, carrying out most of their day- to -day on PC.

2. Under mentioned areas of wok in the main office and sub-offices of the organisation of Pr. CDA (SC) have been computerised. Activities of Data capture, processing and obtaining the output in the desired formats are carried out through computers:

•  Financial Compilation.

•  GPF of Defence civilians of the units and formations covered by Pr. CDA (SC).

•  Pay and allowances the PBOR of various Corps the Indian Army covered by the organisation of Pr. CDA (SC).

•  Payment of claims and bills of third party vendors for the supplies and services rendered by them to the units and formations covered by the organisation of Pr. CDA (SC) Pune.

•  Generation of MIS required for internal use and also for the custormers.

3. Besides the above activities, many good practices have been started in the main office and sub-offices. Tatkal Seva Kendra, providing a "Single Window System" for speedy processing of TA/DA requisitions and Medical claims of the Defence civilians is one such practice. As a result of introduction of this practice, it now possible to release the payment within half-an hour of the receipt of the claim/requisition. Computerised Information Counter with touch-screen facility is yet an another good practice introduced. On-line information in respect of allotments, expenditure, balance amount available under each head of account of units and formations is provided instantaneously at this counter to the authorised representatives of the units and formations. Similarly the Pay Accounts offices at Nasik , Ahmednagar, Kirkee and Kaptee have Jawan Jankari Kasha (Soldier Information Cell) which provide on-line information to the PBOR who seek information in matters relating to their pay and allowances. Provision of useful information through the website of the organisation is yet another step in this direction.

4. This office is also gearing up to implement projects under the Mission Excel IT undertaken by CGDA. The office of the Pr. CDA (SC) is one of the Pilot and Implantation sites for Regional CDA module under MEIT project.

Thus continuous efforts are being made to improve the systems by induction of latest technologies in the IT filed so that the customers are served with efficiency.
